LA ESTÉTICA DEL CAOS
Lima isn’t polished. It’s loud, chaotic, unfinished — a city constantly overflowing with contradictions. Estética del Caos is a curated exhibition that explores the raw, fractured beauty of Peru’s capital through the eyes of those who move within it, not above it.
Developed in collaboration between RETINA and the long-standing photo collective LimaFotoLibre, the exhibition presents a body of work built over years: street-level, instinctive, unfiltered. Each image resists the postcard version of the city — focusing instead on its noise, its fragments, its rhythm, and its rupture.
ABOUT LIMA FOTO LIBRE
Since December 2006, LimaFotoLibre has been building an ongoing visual record of everyday life — capturing images at unexpected moments, often when no photo was intended at all. This process has generated a graphic archive grounded in chance, spontaneity, and the unique gaze of each member.
Working from within the city, from its streets and sidewalks, in the middle of routine chaos, LimaFotoLibre captures what usually goes unnoticed — the seemingly
insignificant fragments that shape daily life for millions of limeans.
At the same time, Lima becomes a visual laboratory: a site for multimedia experimentation, and an exhibition space in itself — through photographic interventions across the city.
